Khuntai Restaurant, Thai Seafood in Butterworth Penang

In Penang whenever I have the desire to taste Thai Style seafood, Khuntai Restaurant is my first choice. Khuntai Restaurant is a Thai seafood restaurant that located nearby Jalan Raja Uda Butterworth Penang. I have been here for at least three times to taste their Thai style seafood. The price for the food at Khuntai is reasonable and environment here is very nice. There is indoor and also outdoor sitting area which is nicely decorated. The outdoor sitting area is something like small hut.

While the main dishes are in the progress, we can always order starter to warm up our appetite. There are many starters to choose in the menu and the Kerabu spicy sotong is one of them which I have tried before. The sotong or squid is mix with onion, chili padi, tomatoes and others vegetable. It is highly recommended for those who love spicy food.

In Khuntai, their rice is not just serving in plate to their customers but it is filled into a special, nice looking Thai design pot. The customers then can take the amount of rice that they one to their own plate. This type of serving style and the used of the Thai design pot make the dining environment more alike to a Thai restaurant.

Tom Yam soup is a dish that must not be missed out while dinning in Thai style restaurant. The seafood Tom Yam in Khuntai contains squid, prawns, fish, tomatoes and other tom yam soup ingredient. Well, I like the Tom Yam in Khuntai because it is not just only spicy like most of the Tom Yam soup I have tasted but really bring out the taste of Thai Tom Yam soup.

The famous dishes in Khuntai are the seafood that steam with their own made spicy lemon source. All the seafood here can be cook in this style which is the MUST order dishes. I have tried the lala , Kempar and also prawns that steam with the spicy lemon source. You will never feel enough once you try it!

After having such a heavy spicy meal, a cool coconut pudding can help to put out the fire.

For those who are interested to pay a visit but don’t know the location, you can directly search Khuntai restaurant in you GPS system. If your GPS map doesn’t show this point, then you can search for Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Li Hwa and Khuntai is located near the school. Hope you will enjoy the food too!

Penang Muka Head Light House

Muka Head Light Penang

When you visit Penang National Park, there are a few of the landmarks that you can check out. Some of these landmarks can be reached easily but some are not. I have visited the Light house at Muka Head. This landmark is considered to be easily reached for me. The light house is about 14m tall and was built in 1883. When you reach the light house, you can are allow to go up to the top of the light house and take a good view of the surrounding.

So, how to go to the light house? To visit the light house, first you must go to the Monkey Beach from the Penang National Park. From Penang National Park, you can choose to way to reach Monkey Beach. You can either jungle trekking to the beach or go to the beach by boat. If you choose to go by jungle trekking, there are no additional charges and all you need is stamina. It took approximately 2 hours to reach the Monkey Beach by jungle trekking. If you choose to go by boat, you will need to pay for RM50 for one way to reach Monkey Beach and it only take about 15minutes. The fee for the boat is counted per trip, so if you go by group you can divide the fee among your group members. So if you are taking the boat to and back from the monkey beach, it will cost RM100.

After you reach Monkey Beach, there is only one way to go to the light house. That is by jungle trekking from the beach up to the light house. It will only take approximately 30 minutes to reach the light house. To return to Penang National Park from the Monkey Beach, you can either take a boat or jungle trekking all the way back to where you started. The light house is a great place to visit if you happen to come to Penang National Park.

Fun at Universal Studios Singapore

The Universal Studios Singapore is located in the Sentosa Isalnd of Singapore.It is very convenient to get to Universal Studios Singapore as there are a few types of transport for visitors to choose. Visitors can travel by using bus to Resort World, drive to the island or use the Sentosa Express. Senstosa Express is the monorail service bringing visitors to Sentosa from Habourfront. If I’m not mistaken it only took 3SGD for the whole trip in Sentosa.

The attractions in Universal Studios Singapore are Hollywood walk, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far Far Away Kingdom and The Madagascar. The attractions are mostly from the movie which most of us have watched before. The New York is another section where all the buildings are design like in the New York. You can take pictures all the way down in this section.

The Hollywood Walk is a street where all the buildings are design like in Hollywood. There are shops along the way of the Hollywood street. Some of the shops are only for decoration which I think it by be open and selling souvenir someday in the future. Along the way in the Hollywood street, you will see some of the characters from the movie walking around and you may go and take a photo with him/she.

The Far Far Away Kingdom from the Movie Shrek is another attraction in Universal Studios Singapore. The castle is open for visitors to watch Shrek in 4D effect. It is a place that you must not miss when you visit this place. If you are lucky enough, you may be able to take a photo with your favorite character in Shrek. Puss In Boot is my favorite character in Shrek but the strange thing is that I’m not really a cat lover.

The Madagascar is located next to the Hollywood walk. This is another attraction where you can see many visitors taking photos around. One thing that makes me amaze is that visitors automatically queue up to take photos with the character of Madagascar. This is an unusually scene if it happen in Malaysia.

Besides taking photo, there are still lots of fun. In The Lost World, There are water world, Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure, Canopy Flyer, Amber Rock Climb and Dino-Soarin. For me the Dino-Soarin is kid’s game but there is no age restriction. If you are interested, you still can ride on the pteranodons. I did not try the water world because I did not bring any extra cloth to change if I get wet. I enjoy the Canopy Flyers lots and it is not enough for only playing once.

Besides excitement in The Lost World, the Ancient Egypt is another excitement you must not miss. In the Ancient Egypt Pyramid is the roller coaster which travels in the dark. You can see the route at all. All you can do is feel the way and excitement. Thump up for Ancient Egypt. Sorry that there are no picture for the outdoor activities because I can’t stop myself to take out my camera. All I want during that moment is continue having fun.

Raya Open House 2009 Kota Kinabalu

Selamat Hari Raya to all my friend. During the first day of Raya, as usual I join the open house organizes by the TYT of Sabah and the Government of Sabah. Like previous year, one is held in the Istana and the other is in the Sport Complex Likas. The open house this year still crowded with people regarding of H1N1. The food is delicious and there is lots of variety from most of the famous hotel in Kota Kinabalu. The only disappointment this year is that Veda Blue ice cream did not participate in the open house hence, there are no free ice cream for me. National Day of Malaysia

Along all these years of National Day of Malaysia, I don’t really have any celebration or doing anything special to celebrate the biggest day of Malaysia. There’s only once that till now still leave me a good memory is during year 2004 where I’m still in lower six at S.M.K Batu Lintang, Kuching. During that year, our school having a competition to celebrate National that is to decorate our class. With the idea contribute by Chun Yi, Lee Sian, Lareina and Ke Xin ( hope the spelling of the name is correct.) which is making a big Malaysia Flag behind our notice board, we start to plan and buy material. Under the lead of our class monitor, Swee Yong, we only need to stay back after school for two days to finish up this project. The material we used is only newspaper, paint and glue. There are still other decorations that we have done to our class room but this is the one that give me more satisfaction than the other. However, the result of the competition has disappointed me because we only get the prize for most creative decoration but not the champion. Until today I still can figure out what make us not the champion and what make them the champion because their decoration look so normal. Well, this is the cruel part of the competition which we have to accept. The picture below show the Malaysia Flag we have build.

DESA Milk Farm, Kundasang

Desa fresh milk can buy from any supermarket in Kota Kinabalu. In Sarawak, this milk can also be found in some of the grocery stall but the price is slightly expensive compare to Sabah. This is because this fresh milk is produce by DESA CATTLE (S) SDN. BHD in Sabah where their milk farm is located in Kundasang. The milk farm is not big but there’s lots of cow. I feel that the number of cows here does not enough to produce the milk for all the local Sabahan and at the same time to export to other state. This might be why not every day we can buy this milk.

The cow is in black and white which is alike to the New Zealand cow. I got no idea what species it is. They can be raise in Kundasang mostly because the weather here is very cool. The milk farm is open for visitors every day from 8a.m. to 5p.m. The entry fees is cheap which are RM3.00 for adult, RM2.00 for kids and student. If you come on the right time, you will have the chance to see their process for producing DESA fresh milk.

The view around the farm is very nice and the air is cool. It is very relax to spend holiday in Kundasang. You can fully enjoy the life in the countryside. Kundasang is located about 2 hours from Kota Kinabalu town. The milk farm is located about 15 minutes from Kundasang’s market.

Beware! There is lots of mine all over the field of the farm.

H1N1 in University Malaysia Sabah

Since last week, University Malaysia Sabah had one confirm case of H1N1. However, this does not bring UMS to the state of temporary shutting down for a week or two like what had been happen for other university in West Malaysia. I got no idea whether the decision of not shutting down is a good or bad. From a point of view of student, we all hope that we can have extra holiday which will also give us a better guarantee for not infected by H1N1. Seem the UMS decide not shutting down, we can do nothing but to accept the consequences.

Anyway I’m not going to talk much about the decision but to show what action have been taken after the decision is made. Seem the student who had been infected is from my faculty, the basic precaution step is being taken. Today, we are given free mask to wear. Of course every one of us went to take it no matter us willing to wear or not. Maybe we all know the seriousness of H1N1, we are all very cooperate with this action taken by the faculty. From the picture, you can see that all of us wearing the mask provided. Please ignore the unorganized lecture room in the picture, it is not the main point. We have already got used to study under this environment

H1N1 does not affect our study mood

Recently most of my friend fall sick continually, this really make me worry for myself. Well, I hope that this H1N1 can leave our ground as fast as possible. Although it bring extra holiday to us but it is not the holiday we really wish for. Here by I hope all of you took care of your personal hygiene and remember to look for doctor if you found that you have any similar symptom of H1N1. Take Care!

Practical in Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR)

I have already finished my practical last two week and now it time to start my final year in UMS. During my practical in JKR Sarawak, there is a place that I used to visit. It is the resource centre in JKR Head Quarters. I’m a person that not used to go library however during my practical, things have change. The main reason I always visit the resource centre is that I can view the nice scene of Kuching inside the resource centre. I like the raining view the most.

The resource centre is located at 14th floor of Wisma Saberkas. Well, I’m not just coming here for the view but also because I need resource to finish my given task. In the resource centre, I can find reference books, wiring regulation, the British Standard and the Malaysia Standard and also other book related to mechanical engineering and chemical engineering. There’s also book about management and accounting. The environment in the resource centre is really good for me to finish my task. It is a good experience for me to do practical in JKR.

Breaking Dawn Stephenie Meyer

The fourth book for Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer is Breaking Dawn. This is also the last book for twilight series because the fifth book, Midnightsun is only repeating the first book but from the point of view of Edward Cullen. In this book, Bella marry to Edward and they went for a honeymoon. Unexpectedly, Bella pregnant and this is not a normal baby. It is a baby of half human and half vampire.

They return to folk and Dr Cullen lie to Charlie that Bella caught a serious disease where no visitor is allowed. Jacob Black thought that Bella already dead and wanted to revenge for her. He when to the house of the Cullen and finally found that she is alive and still human but pregnant. The baby grew fast in her body and feed on blood. The membrane cover the baby is as hard as the vampire skin which makes all of them believe that the baby will tear out from Bella stomach and bring her to die. Edward worry that Bella will die after give birth to the baby, he wanted to stop her but Bella insist to give birth the baby and look for Rosalie help.

Finally the baby is born. Bella almost dead at the moment however Edward manage to change her into vampire in time. Now, Bella have her new life as Vampire and own a half human half vampire baby Renesmee. Irina a vampire from the Tanya though that the baby is a vampire baby and reported this to the Volturi. Having a vampire baby is violating the rule of the vampire world. The Volturi come to Folk for the justice. For the Volturi, they wanted to use this chance to eliminate the Cullen family and Aro wants Alice’s talent so much. The Cullen ask their friend from all over the world to be their witness that the baby girl is not a vampire child but a half human and half vamoire child. All their friends gather in Folk and agree to become witness after the see Renesmee.

The Volturi had come to Folk, the Cullen prove to the Volturi that they did not violate the vampire rule. However, the Volturi which to eliminate the Cullen so much that they try to find an excuse to take action. While the three ancient discussing their decision, their follower, the twin witches, Jane and Alec attack the Cullen with their talent. However, it is stop by Bella Shield. The Volturi finally retreat when they know they got no chance to win the fight with Bella shield. Bella, Edward, Renesmee and the other entire member live happily ever after.

After reading this, I feel a bit disappointed again because the Volturi had not been defeated and eliminate although we already know they are. I really wish so much to see all the Volturi guard being killed. Throughout the story, Emmett is known as the strongest among the Cullen but the book never talk about his fight to show that how strong he is. Overall, this is really a great Novel and worth for a read.

A Short Trip to Lundu Sarawak

Lundu is town in Kuching division at south west of Sarawak. This is my first time when to Lundu. Lundu is a place famous with the beach call Siar Beach, Gunung Gading National Park and Keropok. Gunung Gading National Park is the home of numerous rare plants including the world's largest flower, the Rafflesia tuan-mudae (bunga pakma) which can stretches nearly one meter in width during full bloom. The peak of Mound Gading is about 900 meters high. My visit here is neither for the purpose to visit the beach nor the National Park but got some job to be done here. After finished the job, we went to buy keropok at the road side stall near the bridge. The famous keropok maker makes keropok at their house in Lundu. I’m not sure that they are sold here or not but I’m sure you can get it straight from their house if you want. It is located somewhere near the stall here and I’m sorry that I didn’t take the picture of the house. However it is very easy to recognize because you can see the many keropok outside their house if the weather is good.

Beside the stall, there is a river. There used to have ferry service here to take passenger to the opposite or from opposite site to here. Since the bridge had been build, this service no longer requires. Now the hut here is used by visitor to view the river. For people who like to fish, I think it is not so suitable for fishing due to the tow poles here.

On the way back, we use another route which is to Rambangan if I’m not mistaken to back to Kuching. By using this route, we need to take a ferry. In Kuching, we don’t have a change to take ferry, I think this is only my second time using a ferry. My first time riding ferry is at Asajaya.

The worker on the ferry is fishing the small fish in the river. I don’t think they eat it because it is very small. Most probably they use it as bait for bigger fish at some other places.

When we reach the opposite site, we continue our journey back to Kuching. Here it is, we left crossing the boundary into Kuching from Lundu. The weather seem like going to rain and unfortunately that the car break down somewhere near Matang Wildlife Centre. We have to wait JKR’s mechanic come to fix the car. However, all this did not making me late for going home. I’m thinking to pay a visit in Gunung Gading National Park someday although my colleague told me that there nothing special in the national park. Need Crazyfool to bring me there with his four wheel drive!!!

Moonwalker,Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson is one of the most famous stars in the world. It can be said that every people in the world know him regardless of their age (of course not a new born baby) or from which country. Unfortunately he had passed away and left everything he created as a history. It is shocking news for me, when hear from radio news that he had pass away.

I got nothing much to talk about him seem you can Google for his profile easily. Seem Michael Jackson is famous and everybody knows him, but how you know this name? As for me, I can’t remember which year but I know him since I’m a kid. However, I don’t know that he is such a famous singer and dancer that create dozens of record. This is because I know him when I play a SEGA game call “Moon Walker”. Michael is the main character in the game fighting with bad guys. The greatest skill he had in that game is his dance. You use the skill, then all the bad guys will follow Michael dancing then they will be killing in the end of the dance. Although during that time the SEGA graphic is not as good as now but the way the Michael in the game dance is very nice.

I still have the game with me now but it is play with PC where an emulator is needed. A nice game to play but I can’t run it now with window vista. I wonder how many people have tried this game before? Well, this is the way I know the name Michael Jackson. After the knowing him from the game, then I start to listen to his song which is “Beat It”, “Smooth Criminal” and “ Billy Jean” where it is played in the game too.

Eclipse Stephenie Meyer

The 3rd book of Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer is Eclipse. In this book, the story, the Cullen has once again return to Folk and the triangle relation between Bella Swan, Edward Cullen and Jacob Black started. At the same time, Victoria has return for her revenge against Bella and the Cullen who had killed her mate, James. She creates dozens of new born vampire army to against the Cullen. Since Victoria's friend, Laurent who lived with Tanya family and killed by the werewolf when he wanted to kill Bella told Victoria about the ability of the Cullen, Victoria able to void herself for being seen by Alice vision. Hence, the Cullen doesn’t know the attack not until Victoria orders the new born army to attack Folks.

The attack builds up the ally of the Cullen and the werewolf who also wanted to protect Bella and people in Folk. Jasper Hale who had century of experience in fighting new born vampire teaches his family and the werewolf the effective way to fight the new born army. They won the battle and Victory killed by Edward Cullen.

The triangle relationship between Bella, Edward and Jacob carry from the beginning till the end of the novel. Although Jacob knows how much Bella love Edward, but he still try his best to make Bella change her mind. He knows that Bella will be change into vampire once she marries to Edward. However, his attempt fail when Bella agree to marry Edward and Jacob can hold his disappointment and leave Folk.

In this novel, I feel very annoy with the way that Jacob Black act in order to change Bella mind. First, he kissed Bella by force and second he force Bella emotionally to kiss him by telling her he is going to die in the battle. Jacob act stubbornly in this novel.

Sematan Beach and Market

Last week I had gone to Sematan. This is my second visit to Sematan. Well, before I come here that day, I have went to Lundu which is located not far away from Sematan, I think about 1 hour drive maybe. In Lundu, I did not go for visiting although the beach in Lundu is well known as one of the best in Sarawak. I go to Lundu for some supervision work follow my supervisor to the district office for some JKR work.

Well, I’m not going to talk about what I do in Lundu but what I want to share here is what I had done after the supervision work. After we left Lundu, we went to Sematan to have our Lunch. Sematan is a place near the sea side. Hence, you can buy fresh sea food here. The wet market in Sematan is not big but the sea food here is fresh and cheaper than the price in Kuching market. After we finish our lunch, we walk to the market to see what we can bring back.The choices are not much in Sematan market because all the sea food sell here is based on what they can catch.

This is horseshoe crab. Have you ever eat this? They are still alive. I never eat this before but from what I know they did not eat their meat but eat their egg. Hence all the horseshoe crabs here are female. I wonder how they differentiate their gender. I bought my self 2kg of crab home. Quite regret for not buying the horseshoe crab, next time must buy and have a try.

After leaving the market, we headed to the beach. There’s a resort call Palm Beach Resort in Sematan where it is a nice place to relax yourself. We did not go there but to the public beach in Sematan. Well, we did not swim, just drop by to feel the sea wind before we take our way back to office. Sematan did not change much since my last visit.

New Moon Stephenie Meyer

New Moon is the Second book of Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. In this novel, the story is more about how the love between Jacob Black and Bella Swam is being built up when the Cullen leave forks. Besides, it is also an introduction of the character for the third and fourth book of Twilight series. I said so because the rise of the Quileute tribe as werewolf and their ability is being told and the ancient coven of the vampire in Volterra of Italy, Volturi is introduce to reader. The Volturi is the ancient and the strongest coven in the vampire world. They are more likely the ruler of the vampire because their coven is the strongest with almost all the vampire in the coven have special ability.

In New Moon, Edward Cullen decided to leave Bella because he feels that he will only bring danger to Bella. When the Cullen leave fork, Bella’s live change. She can’t accept the live without Edward and she found that she can hear his voice whenever she is doing something danger. Hence, Bella bought two non-function bikes and bring it to Jacob Black to fix. She believe that riding bike will make her able to hear Edward voice because it is dangerous act. This had improve her relationship with Jacob Black. When Bella try with another dangerous act which is the cliff diving, Alice Cullen who has the ability to view the future vision but unable to see vision when the werewolf Involve though that Bella commit suicide. She returns to folk to check for Bella safety. On the other hand Edward thought Bella already dead had decided to go to the Volturi and make them kill him. Alice and Bella go to the Volturi to save Edward. The Volturi let them go with the promise that Bella will be change into vampire within a year so that the secret of the vampire world is safe.

In this novel, Victoria who is the mate of the hunter, James that killed by the Cullen had return for revenge. However she is unable to penetrate the defense of the werewolf into folk for Bella. Her friend Laurent that meet Bella in the meadow while he is hunting is killed by the werewolf when he wanted to kill Bella.

As I had mention that this novel is more like a preparation for the up coming books, there are lots of characters being introduce here. The love of Jacob Black with Bella also forms a triangle in the third book.

I’m sure that many of you have already watched the movie Twilight from the novel by Stephenie Meyer. Have you read the book yet? I wonder how many people have already read the book before the movie is out. As for me, I watch the movie before I start to read the novel. This is because after watching the movie, I feel that this is an interesting novel. Hence, I when on to and get the novel.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer contain 4 books in series. The 1st book is Twilight follow by New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. During this semester break, I have already finished all the 4 books. Very interesting novel that make me can stop to read. Well, actually there’s another book name Midnight Sun which is about the 1st book, Twilight. In Midnight sun, the story is told from the point of view of Edward Cullen.

Twilight series are novel about romance and love. It is about the love story of a human and a vampire. The love for this novel is not only about the love among couple but also the love among family for such as the relationship among the family of the Cullen which is unbreakable.

The main characters are Isabella Swam (Bella) which the story is told from her point of view. Edward Cullen the mind reading vampire who fall in love with Bella. Jacob Black the warewolf that love Bella. The other members of the Cullen family are, Carlise Cullen, Esme Cullen, Emmett Cullen, Alice Cullen, Rosalie Hale and Jasper Hale. Charlie Swam and Renee who are Bella parent that already divorce.

In the 1st book, Twilight the story is about Bella who move to folk and stay with her father so that her mother can travel with her new husband meet Edward Cullen and his family who are vampire. Bella started curious about the identity of the Cullen when Edward Cullen stop the car from crushing her with his hand in a lightning speed. She get the cruel from her friend Jacob Black that tell her the legend of his tribe Quileutes and the Cullen Family who in the legend known as the Cold One. However, when Bella found out the truth about the Cullen, she does not scare but fall in love with Edward. The story comes to an end when the hunter, James and his mate Victoria wanted to hunt Bella but kill by the Cullen. Victoria had escape.

After reading this novel, there’s only one part that I’m disappointed with that is the fight between Edward Cullen and James. Well, seem this is a love and romance novel, it is understood that the fight between them is not a necessary to be emphasis. Beside, seem the story is told from the point of view of Bella, the moment Edward arrives to save her, she is already unconscious and her head is burning so she did not see the fight like in the movie. However I personally feel that it will be more interesting and excited if the fight is being described.

Golden Toad

Have you ever seen this before? A Toad carries another small little toad on the back. What are they doing? When I see this, I think the small toad is the male toad while the big one is the female toad and they are prepare for making. This is just my guess anyway.

However, another thought come into my mind when I saw this is that I need to bet for MEGA in Toto Sport. This is because the color of the toad is something like gold color. The big toad is carrying the small toad which symbolizes as the big toad is carrying gold and come into my house. YES!! This means that I’m going to strike tonight. I do hope so. Wish me luck!!

Koo Kien Keat in Sudirman Cup 2009

Yesterday was the semi-final of Sudirman cup and Malaysia meets China. Malaysia lost to china with the result of 3-0 is what we Malaysian don’t wish to see. Furthermore, I personally don’t wish to see Lee Chong Wei lost to Lin Dan but it happen yesterday. Anyway Malaysia team already try their best and performed well in the competition.

What I discuss here is the sportsmanship of Koo Kien Keat. I think all of us that watch the match yesterday noticed that Koo Kien Keat show middle finger to his racket during the match with China. Although he did not point this to the opponent but to a non living thing which is his racket but it is still not what a professional athlete should do in international stage. All his action is capture by all the camera there and the competition is live for people all over the world to watch and yet he dare to do such action. However, I understand his motive to release his emotion and during the match, sometimes emotion is hard to control.

Jabatan KerJa Raya Kuching

Jabatan Kerja Raya Kuching (JKR) is not a place new to me. The Picture above show the JKR Kuching division office which located at Batu Lintang Kuchig, There lots of department here and now I’m having my industry training in the electrical department. As we all know that most of the government projects are out source to other private company, hence there’s nothing much for me to do or even to learn in this department. My 1st week in JKR has just pass and my life in JKR is totally free plus boring but I did not regret about the decision to do training here because it is in Kuching and near my house. That is the priority I’m looking for when I choose my training place. I receive the accept letter from Nexus Resort Karambunai in Kota Kinabalu but I wanted to came back to Kuching more than in Kota Kinabalu. There are still 8 week for me here and I believe that no matter how there will still have something for me to do and learn in JKR.

This is just the division office in Kuching. The head quarter of JKR is in Wisma Saberkas which I will have my training there on my 5th or 6th week. The division office is not big. Pictures below show the area of the division office.

This place is not new to me even though this is the first time I having my Training here. Why I said so? This is because when I’m still in form 2 and form 3, I used to come here once or twice or few times a week. During that time, the JKR basketball court is still open to public. Hence I used to come here with my friend. The condition of the basketball court here is well maintained compare to the public basketball court.

The other reason we choose to come here is that my friend, Crazyfool 's house is just next to the basketball court which is the main reason we come here. Let me zooms the picture so that the house can be view clearly. Do you notice there’s only a fence as the border of the house and the basketball court? During that time, the fence was not in this good condition, so we use to climb over the fence to the basketball court. Those times were really fun. However when JKR stop the public for using the basketball court, they rebuild the fence. Starting from that day, we did not go to that basketball court anymore. Furthermore, we seldom play basketball because there is a new activity that we had attracted to, COUNTER STRIKE. Hence, starting from that day, we spend more time in cyber café than playing basketball.

Times really pass fast and those times are only memories for us. Really miss those times.

Dry Market Kota Kinabalu

Every semester end before I go back to Kuching from Kota Kinabalu, there is a place in Kota Kinabalu that I must visit. Or I should say that every time before I got back from Kota Kinabalu to Kuching, there is a place that I must pay a visit. It is just a dry market call “ Pasar Ikan Masin” located in the centered of the Kota Kinabalu Town. If I’m not mistaken, this place consider as the Filipino Market.

What so special about this market? Well, it is a place where you can buy fish’s air bladder 鱼鳔, sea cucumber, dry scalloped, salty fish咸鱼, and other dry product. Fish’s air bladder and sea cucumber is what we Chinese like to buy as a gift when you go one place. However this is not for my case because it is my grandma that wanted me to buy those foods.

Fish Air Bladder 鱼鳔, Do you know how to value the grade? I’m not pro in this, all I know is the ticker it is, the best it will be. So I always look for the thick one. The type of fish is also the factor for the quality but I not sure that which type of fish give the best fish’s bladder.

The price in this market is reasonable. The advantage of buying thing here is that you can bargain. If you are gifted with the talent of bargain or you equip with a good bargain skill, for sure you can get a cheaper price. As for me, I don’t have those skills, but somehow the price I get still consider cheap if compare to the price in Kuching. Hence, if you like to buy all those dry product, you must not miss this place when you visit Kota Kinabalu.

Next to the dry market is the fruit market and the handicraft market. The picture below shows the fruit's market. Most of the time you will find mangoes sold here.

Bug in Dota 6.59b invisible frog

The invisible frogs in 6.59b, I wonder how many people have already try it when playing online in GG or in cyber. This bug can help you earn extra fast money. So there is no problem of winning the game. However, this map already out dated seem now there’s already have 6.59d. I wonder how many of you have played game with bug but you do not know they are exist? I still remember that I meet this situation once, the bug was on the syllabear where it can earn extra item by killing the bear. I played on GG and the opponent team got a syllabear. Of course I don’t know there is bug so for me, I still though that the person really pro because he earn fast although he had been slay for a few times. As a result we lost the game due to the extra fat syllabear. When look back the replay… then I know what is really happen. Anyway that just a game, so lost or win does not bring any meaning. Just feel a bit dissatisfaction of losing in that way.

One more subject to go before my final exam end, can’t wait till that day!!

The Day Of Exhibition

The day of exhibition was on 16th of April 2009. This is only a small exhibition in our faculty which is organized by the IEEE of Universiti Malaysia Sabah. The visitors are mostly student but the judges are specially invited by our lecturers. Besides exhibition, there was also a competition among us where 3 teams will be selected as best design. There are about 11 groups of us so there were 11 products during the exhibition. However, some off the product does not function on the day of exhibition due to some technical error.

I do take some pictures on the day of exhibition but they are not much. I should have take more but I’m too tired due to lag of sleep. Most of the teams are not sleeping the day before exhibition. However, we still look good during the exhibition. Although this is only a small exhibition, but the visitors are not less. Maybe the size of the place is small that make it look crowded.

First of all, I would like to introduce my team which is Primetech electronic. As you know we design a dog collar. This dog collar is for dog training purpose and the way we design it is base on the information we got from a professional dog trainer. Hence it is extremely safe to use in dog training. So from what we got from the trainer, the collar is not use to train the dog to behave the way you want. It is used to correct their natural habits which will cause them sick or dead.

Let me explain the situation here. For example if you have a fierce dog to guard your house, when there is a thief or other intruder that wanted to enter you house, guess what will they do? Most probably they will throw some food which is already being poison for your dog. Naturally, your dog will eat it without a thought. However, with some special training course for your dog, this sort of problem can solve. During the training, the trainer will of course let the dog wear the electronic dog collar. After sometimes or few weeks when they get use to it , they will start the training. The trainer will throw some food from outside the house without letting the dog see him. Then they will observe the dog in a hidden place with the remote control in hand waiting for the dog to approach the food. The moment before the dog bit the food, the will turn the collar own and shock the dog. This will make the dog think that the food is giving them pain but not the collar. Hence, after few times of training, the dog will start to realize that unknown food that not in their plate by their owner will give them pain and they will be more aware in eating unknown food.

So, above is one of the used of the electronic dog collar in the dog training purpose. It is not a cruel stuff if the training is conducted in the correct way by a professional trainer. Here again is our product dumb on the table during the exhibition. I got no idea how am I going to demo without a dog. However, there are some visitors that willing to try the voltage which is pain but won’t cause any harm. Visit Primetech for more detail. Now lets me show the other product from the other teams. The one shown in above picture is the auto gate system, auto door and also auto light. Their prototype really looks good. The concept of this system is using sound to control all the devices. For the auto gate, the sound sensing sensor is placed somewhere near the car engine. When the engine starts, the sound sensor will detect sound from the engine and transmit a signal to open the gate. Once the car goes out of the transmission range, the receiver in the house will receive no signal and will automatically closed the gate. When you are coming back from outside, once your car are in the range, the gate will open again to welcome your return. At the same time, the light in your car garage will turn on automatically and the door to enter your house will be open too. This is just a draft design hence there still other issue that need to be solve if this system is being used practically. Visit Happinesscare to know more about this product.

Take a look at the picture above. What do you think this will be? Well, this is a camera which will follow object that go into the range of the camera. The application of this product is for security purpose where during night time when there is something moving outside your house and spotted by the camera, the sport light will turn own and follow the object. Next is this piece of unorganized circuit. What do you think this can be? It is another security system where when intruder are detected, it will call from the cell phone to the owner cell phone to let you know which part of your house had been break into or where the intruder is sported. The different of this product with the one in the market is that the one in the market use the phone in our house to call the owner. Which mean that if the intruder cut off the phone line of your house before they break in your house, you will not receive any call. Here comes another interesting product. A musical fountain which the water will fire out followed the music. From the picture, the prototype does not look like a fountain at all but it really works well with the high bass soundtrack. Visit Aegis for more detail.

There are still lots of product which I can’t manage to take their picture. The heart beat detector is another interesting product. Now guess who is the winner for the best design?? There are three team will be selected for the award. There were “The Heart Beat Analyzer” by WalkTothether , “ The Musical Fountain” by Aegis and unexpectedly “ Electronic Dog Collar” by my team. It is unexpected because we can’t even demo to show how it work to the judge and during the exhibition, excluding the non-function product, our product consider boring because you hardly see what can it do. However this product bring us a prize home.

Overall, doing this design project really drive us crazy. However we do enjoy lots and learn lots of thing especially during the final presentation when we receive dozens of professional comment from lecturers.

Electronic Dog Collar

Finally our project design comes to an end. From my previous post I had mention that my group is going to design an electronic dog collar. Although it is not perfectly done however it is successfully done. The electronic dog collar we design is nothing much than the one outside in the market. Maybe the quality still can't compete with the manufacture product. Below is the prototype of our product.

The one with the belt is the dog collar. The size seem a little big but that is what we call hand make. Actually the size can reduce to half of this but this is our first outcome, so there’s lots of imperfection. You might notice that we just use bolt and nut as the output pin. The output of the collar can reach up to 1000Kvolt but with a very small current. So it would not bring any harm. The other black box is the remote control. The range of the remote control can go up to 35 meter in an open area. We are using RF module for the wireless communication.

This product is really simple but due to lag of skill and knowledge; it takes us lots of time to finish it. Now everything has been done and I would like to shout out a loud loud “HURRAY!!” Before the day of exhibition, all of us (not only my group but all my fellow course mate) did not take a good sleep because we finish our product few hours before the exhibition starts. Here by I would like to congratulate all the other groups who had fought hard for their product.

Produce An Electronic Dog Collar

It has been quite some time I didn’t update my blog. This is because I’m busying with my 3rd year project. Before I go to my project, I have to make myself clear that I’m a dog lover. Yes! I like dog although I never have one. Dogs are human best friend which I believe this is quite true. Dog behave well when they are being train well. So how will you train your dog?

My project is not a high technology project like what you imagine, after all I’m study in Malaysia Local University which seldom does research or never do research on future technology. It is just a project that required me to make an electronic dog collar. Nowadays, you can get this type of electronic dog training collar on the net easily, so what I can do is already in the market. Besides, I’m not the kind of high ambitious person that wanted to “conquer the world”. So I want to do is just an ordinary and stable electronic dog collar that can give an amount of shock to the dog for training purpose.

However due to the limitation of knowledge, I still face lots of problem in doing this ordinary electronic dog collar. 1st is how to produce a stable amount of voltage? Till now, I still can stable down the voltage produce by the collar. 2nd is how can I produce different level of stable shock? 3rd is the problem of power source because by stepping up a small voltage to a very high voltage, the power source drain very fast. 4th is will my wireless remote control stable???

If all the above problems cannot be solve, the collar I produce will got no market value at all and all the time I use on it will be wasted. Still got around 1 month to go and hope that will have a HAPPY ENDING for this semester. Wish me luck!!

Summon Tauren Chieftain in Dota 6.59b

Today I just know that there is a secret Quest can be done in Defense of The Ancient (DOTA) 6.59b map. This might already not a fresh piece of information for some of you but I still like to share this in my blog. This quest can be done easily if you play a single player mode. You can summon a Tauren Chieftain after you complete the quest. If you able to kill it which is impossible without playing cheat, you can get the “Axe of the Chieftain” which will give you addition of +200 Strength and Chieftain Strike. The Chieftain Strike is used to bounce any unit away from you but it does not cause any damage. Well, if this can be done in real DOTA tournament, then the one who get the “Axe of the Chieftain” will own the game with that extra 200 strength. My First Touch On Snake!

Have you ever see a snake such as this one? It is white but with yellow spot on it. If you never see before and want to see it with your own eyes, you can pay a visit in 1 Borneo Hyper mall at the Handicraft and Cultural Centre and take a glare on it. Well, this is no more a new news for student in Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) because UMS’s students always visit 1 Borneo and the snake was there since month ago. However I like to share this in my blog because it is my 1st touch on snake. Furthermore the snake that took my 1st touch is a weird snake which I never see before from television or other places (This snake is weird to me but maybe not to you).

I don’t know how many times I have see this snake every time I visited 1 Borneo. Each time I see it lying on the table, I would like to touch it but I didn’t have the courage to do so even though I knew it is not dangerous. The snake just lying on the table without moving and that’s make me think of a phrase we Chinese like to say or more precise is what Hakka used to say “Quiet Dog Bite” which make me feel that it is dangerous. However, today I see it gliding slowly on the table trying to get down to the floor. This make me feel that it is even dangerous than not moving but I finally touched its skin while it is moving. The feeling was like touching a hard plastic.

From the picture below, you can see that the snake is not only for display but is prepare for visitors to take pictures together. If I’m not mistaken they are having some event related to reptile and that’s why the snake is here. I don’t know how long this event be held. 1 picture cost RM10.00. Upperstar Pepper Grill & Bar

Last week I went to this restaurant name Upperstar Pepper Grill & Bar. It is located in Damai Kota Kinabalu Sabah. If I’m not mistaken, there is another branch of this restaurant located in Kota Kinabalu Town. This is the first time I visit here after receive a few good comment from my friends. It is a well decorate restaurant. In Upperstar, besides enjoying local food such as Nasi Lemak, Nasi Goreng, you can also enjoy western food.

The environment here is good. The surrounding is decorated with all kind of musical instrument and pictures. It is air-conditioning inside and if you are a smoker, you can choose to sit outside. For what I know is that most of the people came here not just to enjoy the food here but drink alcoholic drinks and watching football game.

Seem I’m not good in drinking alcoholic drinks, I come here just to enjoy the food and the environment.We have other a lamb chop, grill Salmon, Spaghetti Bolognaise and Bruschetta. Bruschetta is toasted bread with some vegetables and meat on it. All the food ordered test good beside the spaghetti. I’m also satisfied with the quantity of the food serve. I’m sure that you can fill up your stomach with a reasonable price at Upperstar. Below are the appearances of the food I have ordered.

Well, in term of food, the restaurant does satisfy me. However, on the day I visit, the waiter there didn’t perform good services. I have been waited for quite some time until they come to serve me. During that moment, they don’t seem busy at all. Hope this won’t happen again during my next visit.

Fishing Competiton In UMS

Yesterday there was a fishing competition held in Universiti Malaysia Sabah. This competition was organized by the student from business faculty and the venue is at the ODEC of the university which is our university own jetty. Fishing is one of the famous activities done my people in Kota Kinabalu. When you drive along the way at the sea side of Kota Kinabalu, you can see people fishing. The competition opens for all people who is interested in fishing. The competition started at 8.00a.m and end at 12.45p.m. The winner will be selected base on the weight of their catch. Whoever that catch the heavier fish will be the champion. Champion will be given RM500 cash money.

There are quite a lot of people taking part in this competition. However, from what my friend told me, the number of participator for this year is less compared to the previous year. Well, I’m not taking part in this competition because I don’t know how to fish. I went there just to support my friend and see how people fishing. The weather on that day is so nice. I feel that it will be very relaxing to fish at such environment.

While fishing, participator can also enjoy the view of the ocean. Kota Kinabalu town can be seen clearly here. Due to the quality of my camera, you can see it clearly from the picture.

The moment I arrive at ODEC, my friend Allan already got a few catch. However, the heavier catch he got is only 170g which is still far away to be champion.

I don’t know what name is this fish call but it really looks scary to me. I look like belong to the grouper’s family. They said that it is poison, is it true?

Below is the fish caught by one of the participator which it is clearly seen that is catch certainly heavier than what my friend got. It is aroung 200g-250g.

What unusual thing happen is that besides catching fish, one of the participator hooks up a crab. I don’t know whether crab consider as fish or not but this crab certainly got some weight.

My friend doesn’t have any luck that day to allow him to get the champion. The heaviest catch in this competition is only about 400g. It really doesn’t sound like a big fish. I don’t know who the winner is so I can’t manage to get a snap on his fish before I leave.

After watching this competition, I really do have the feeling to try with this activity. There are really lots of knowledge can be learn in fishing. What stop my way is that this is not a cheap hobby because all the tool needed is quite expensive if I want to get a quality one. Well, hope my blog can earn me a fishing rod as soon as possible.

Chinese New Year's Firework 2009

Chinese New Year 2009 nearly comes to an end. Before it ends, I think it is still not too late to say GONG XI FA CAI to all of you. Well, during this CNY, I’m enjoying visiting relative and friends. Like what we already knew, happy moment always end fast. My one week holiday just pass through like flash and until now I’m still in very strong CNY mood which cause me can’t concentrate on my study for the time being. I should skip more classes to make my holiday longer.

Beside visiting relative and friends, the most enjoyable moment during CNY at 12.00a.m. on the first day of CNY. During that time, we Chinese will play with fire cracker and firework which is believe that it will chase away bad thing and bring good luck. However, this year I found that the amount of firecracker and firework in my area have decrease. This might due to the economy crisis. Well, no matter what I do hope that this only for temporary and all the good things are coming in this New Year.

Pesta Ang Pao UMS 2009

Pesta Ang Pao (新春联欢晚会) is an annual event in Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). This event normally will be held before Chinese New Year. This is an event which is held to celebrate the coming of Chinese New Year with all the students in UMS of all races. Pesta Ang Pao UMS 2009 was held on 17 January 2009 in UMS Chancellor Hall.

The event starts at 7:00p.m. and ended around 11.00p.m. The moment I arrive in Chancellor Hall, there’s already a lot of student waiting to enter the hall.

Before entering the hall, there is also an exhibition outside the hall. Here is the Sabah King Of Tea performing how to make a good tea. Well, I don’t really interested in tea so did not look for detail. However, making tea is one of the Chinese cultures.

There are lots of performances in Pesta Ang Pao UMS 2009. These event are such as singing the theme song of Pesta Ang Pao UMS, Moden Dance, Lion Dance, Chinese Opera, Mongolia Dance, Koir, Chinese Orchestra, Chinese KungFu(), Che Ling, Drangon Dance, Chang Shan Dance and many more.Among all the performance, there is two of them which I wanted to share with all my readers. Two of these performances are the one I enjoy the most throughout the Event.

The first performance which I enjoy is Che Ling (扯铃) or call diabolo in english. This performance is performed by the student from SJK (C) Shan Tao Kota Kinabalu. Diabolo is a traditional Chinese game which generated long time ago. It is one of the kids game. Diabolo is a juggling prop consisting of a spool which is whirled and tossed on a string tied to two sticks held one in each hand. By doing lots of training, many unbelievable trick can be done by this simple juggling game. I never play this before but it seems not hard to do the simple move.

Second performance which I enjoy it Bian Lian (变脸) or Changing Face. This is what I call one of the Chinese Magic Trick. Since the reign of the Qing Dynasty Emporor, QianLong (乾隆) about 300 years ago, this performance already exists. The face changing (变脸) is a culture of Chinese Sichuan Opera. The performer can change the Sichuan Mask in magically quick succession. They change their painted mask by flourish their arms and twist their heads. Enjoy the video below. The performer really did very well and I still wondering how he changes his mask without using hand.

Besides those two performances, Lion Dance, Dragon Dance, Chinese Orchestra from Sekolah Tinggi Kota Kinabalu and Choir team from SJK (C) Chung Hwa Likas are also very interesting. However, I don’t manage to the photo due to the lighting condition in the hall which not allows my camera to take quality pictures. It is too dark and I’m sitting quite far from the stage.

Overall the event was not as interesting as I though although the performance was interesting. I still feel that there are still lots of improvement can be done. The organizers should try to introduce the background of the performance and also our Chinese culture rather than making some cold joke before each performance was started. However their effort to entertain the audience is there although their jokes really cold till we hardly open our mouth to laugh. Hopefully Pesta Ang Pao 2010 will have more improvement.

Universiti Malaysia Sabah Press Conference

On 15 January 2009, Universiti Malaysia Sabah had organized a press conference in SKTM. This press conference is mainly for letting the outside world know the achievement of Universiti Malaysia Sabah in year 2008. On the day, media friends have been invited to SKTM. So what is the achievement s of UMS in 2008? Well, UMS had won two champions from two competitions which is Freescale Smart Car Competition and Technical Presentation in National Chemical Engineering Symposium (NACES) 2008.

Freescale Smart Car Competition is a competition held by Freescale Semiconductor Malaysia Sdn.Bhd. and The Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Malaysia. This year is the very first time the competition is being held in Malaysia which is expected to be an annual event in the forth coming years. A total of 26 teams from 11 universities from all around Malaysia had participated in this event. Apart from Malaysia, similar competitions had been organized by IEEE and Freescale since the year 2006 in China, Korea and India. NACES is an annual gathering for all chemical engineering undergraduates from both public and private universities from all over Malaysia. This program can enhance the integration among chemical engineering undergraduates from different races. Apart from that, this program can provide exposure to the issues and challenges faced by chemical engineers in the era of globalization in their effort to develop the country. The NACES 2009 will be held for the very first time in Universiti Malaysia Sabah under the wings of the Chemical Engineering Student’s Club.

This event is held at the foyer of SKTM.

Early that morning, we when to SKTM to do our final preparation. We recheck the presentation slide, the condition of the car.

This is the game field that we going to use to show the reporters how fast our car can go. Both the cars are in good condition and waiting for show time.

The event start at 11.00p.m. Before it start, we are ask to stand up to sing the song of our University “ Bertekad Cemerlang”.

After that, Dean of SKTM, Dr.Rosalam Sarbatly is giving out his speech.

Next is the student from Chemical Engineering which took part in NECES presenting their slide. Their topic is “Algae the Biofuel” which is the new method to get energy besides using natural mineral. This is the research that brings them the champion in NECES.

Then is student from Electronic and Electrical Engineering which took part in Freescale Smart Car presenting our slide. My friend Wong Cheok Liang is explaining to our Dean,lecturer and also reporters about the competition.

After the brief presentation, we also demonstrate our smart car in the game field prepared.

Winning Video of Freescale Smart Car Competition 2008

This might not a fresh piece of news but I still want to share this with all my reader here. As you all know that Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Freescale Smart Car Team is the champion in the Freescale Smart Car Competition 2008. I have post about it in my previous post and now I got the video where UMS's Team in final. UMS's Team finish the lap in 40.146 seconds which lead the 1st runner up, UTM Team about 12 seconds. Civic Centre Kuching

Civic Centre Kuching is one of my favorite places where I always visit when I’m in Kuching. There is a Civic Centre Tower where visitors can view Kuching city at a higher point. This is really a relaxing place for me. It is also a place where I can see quite a number of foreigner visitors.

Here are some shot of Kuching, Sarawak.

The tall building here is Wisma Saberkas which can be said as one of the oldest shopping complex in Kuching. Now, it is known as a shopping mall where you can shop for hand phones, Computers, Laptop and other’s electronic equipment. However, the opening of 1TJ might take over this place in the future.

The mountain shows in the picture below really look similar to Mount Kinabalu. I’m so surprise the moment I look at it. I got no idea whether it is Mount Santubong, Mount Serapi, or Mount Matang.

Dewan Undangan Negeri Sarawak where it is still under construction. Do you notice a colorful building at the bottom of the picture below, that is Star Cineplex which is one of the cinemas in Kuching.

Trip To Mount Kinabalu Sabah

On past Saturday, I finally took my step to challenge the highest mountain in Malaysia, Mount Kinabalu (4095.2m). Well, although it is a fun and full of enjoyment during the trip, but I’m disappointed that I didn’t fully conquer Mount Kinabalu which only conquers about 95% of it due to bad weather.

During the 1st day of this trip, we arrive at Mesilau Resort arount 7:00p.m. The moment we arrive at Mesilau, the weather was so bad and cold so we need to wear our jacket. However, this does not affect the happiness and excitement of us that wanted to conquer Mount Kinabalu so much.

We waited at the Mesilau Café for the lunch that they prepare for us to bring along. While waiting, I order a plate of “nasi goring pattaya” as my breakfast which cost me RM15.00. Although it is expensive but a plate of rice is what I need to provide me energy for this challenge.

Then the Mountain guides gather us for a brief talk about the expedition and the route we going to take. On the 1st day, we start at the Mesilau Gate and rest at Gunting Lagadan Hut(about 3323.5m). The total length of the route is about 7.5KM.

The mountain guide advice us to use portal to send our back pack up to Gunting Lagadan Hut seem most of us are first time here. The cost for the portal is RM9.00 per Kg. I did use the portal service and my back pack was about 7Kg which mean it cost me RM63.00 to send it up to Gunting Lagadan Hut and back to Timpohon Gate. Although it sound expensive but it do worth to save my energy for this expedition and I feel no regret to pay for the portal. Besides, the mountain guides also advice us to use “tongkat” which cost RM5.00 for a “tongkat”.

Before we start to hiking, my friend Allan Tam show his smile and victory act which turn to tired face when arrive at Gunting Lagadan Hut.

On the way up to Gunting Lagadan Hut, the view is really nice. There is a long waterfall which you can see clearly from the picture below. After a few hours walk, I came to a waterfall where I think should be the same one.

Here are some pictures of the path way I need to go through before I reach Gunting Lagadan. It is not as easy as I though and my tiredness making me to take less photo. I’m so tired that I got no mood or even energy to take out my camera to take photo. All I think in my mind is that I want to reach the rest house as quick as possible to take a good rest.

However, the portal guide does not seem tired at all even though they are carrying our back pack. I really feel impressive with their stamina. From the picture below, you notice that our portal guide is just teenagers but their stamina is much better than adult. In the picture, they are not resting but they are force to rest because we need to rest. So they need to wait for us to move.

Below are some of the pictures I took before I reach Gunting Lagadan Hut.

I took about 8 hours to reach Gunting Lagadan Hut. The moment I reach the rest house, I’m wet due to the bad weather. It was 9.80C at the rest house. Well, I took my buffet dinner at Laban Rata before I go to Gunting Lagadan Hut. I’m force to take the buffet dinner although I’m wet because to go to Gunting Lagadan Hut, I still need to walk for another 10 minutes. The buffet dinner is delicious.

After I took my dinner, I went to Gunting Lagadan Hut. The room in the hut is not big. Each room is provided for 4 people. Although there is not heater in the room, but I can still feel that it is warmer than outside. I slept quite early that night so that I have enough energy for the next day.This is how the inside of the hut look like.

I wake up at 1a.m. on the next day to prepare myself to climb to the low’s peak. After taking breakfast, we depart from our rest house around 2.30a.m. to the Low’s Peak of Mount Kinabalu. It is very dark outside so we need to use head lamp or touch light to light up the route. We need to walk a 600m stairs then climb with the rope for 2KM to reach the Low’s Peak. Before I come to the Low’s Peak, I had reach a check point where we will get our certificate once we pass the check point.

When I’m about 100m to 200m away from the Low’s Peak, it started to rain and the mist getting thicker and thicker until I hardly see. It is around 5:00a.m and I have made my decision to turn back because I worried that the rain will get heavy. Besides, the mountain guides also advise us to turn back. However, after a 20 to 30 minutes walking down the mountain, the rain stop. At that moment, I do think to continue going up to Low’s Peak but my body don’t allowed me to do so. Again, I’m wet and cold. To make myself less regret for not continue to the Low’s Peak, I took some photo of the view near the Low’s Peak.

The moment I reach the rest house, it’s already 8:30p.m. I quickly pack up my thing and take buffet breakfast at Raban Rata. Before we leave Raban Rata, we took so photo here too.

The route down to Timpohon Gate is about 6KM. I reach Timpohon Gate around 3.30p.m. then we take our buffet dinner before going back to Kota Kinabalu. This trip is really interesting and challenging. After challenge the highest mountain in Malaysia, what I want to share with my reader is that mentally fit is more important than physically fit. Never think that you are tired and believe that you can reach the Low’s Peak. Although that day the weather was not on my side, but I’m still glad to conquer 95% of Mount Kinabalu. Here are the certificates I got as prove of climbing Mount Kinabalu.

The Slogan of Mount Kinabalu, " Take Nothing But Photographs. Leave Nothing But Footprints." Yes!!, I have take lots of photos and leaves lots of footprints. Besides, I also leave plenty of sweat there. There's no doubt that I enjoy this trip so much.

Tomorrow is a challenging day for me. I said so because I’m going to climb the highest mountain in Malaysia which is Mount Kinabalu. Until now I have been study in Sabah for about 3 years so it is quite embarrass because this is the first time I take my step to challenge the highest mountain in Malaysia.

For those who don’t know where Mount Kinabalu is, it is located in East Malaysia state of Sabah. It is the place where you could see breathtaking sunrise from above the clouds, 13,435 feet (4095 meters) above sea level. Well, of course I hope I will reach the peak of Mount Kinabalu and I believe that I will.

Trip To Lok Kawi WIldlife Park

The reptile house in Lok Kawi Wildlife Park is the most boring place in Lok Kawi Wildlife Park. I said so because reptiles are passive animals. So during my visit to the reptile house, I hardly see them move which make me feel very boring. However, the advantage of their passiveness is that I can take their photo easily.

After visited the reptile house, here come something that more interesting. The next animal I saw is the Malayan Sun Bear. Malayan Sun Bear is the smallest bear in the world. Although it is the smallest bear in the world but I still feel that they are big. They do look cute to me and really feel like touch their fur. I wonder will they attack people although they feed on fruits and leaves.

The Malayan Tiger is the animal that I wanted to see the most before I came to this wildlife park. Well, maybe I like seeing fierce animal rather than a tame one. There are three tigers in Lok Kawi Wildlife Park. According to the keeper here, all this 3 tigers are not being train because they are already adult tigers once they rise in Lok Kawi Wildllife Park. So even the keeper feed them behind the gate but not go into the cage.

They keeper also said that they do not feed the tigers frequently to keep them active. If they feed them too frequently, the tigers will just rest for whole day without walking around as an exercise because they will be too full. So if you accidentally fall into the cage, they might attack you because they are hungry.

The smooth Otter is another cute animal I see in this wildlife park. During my visit, I get the chance to see the keeper feed them. He feed them with small fish. When the keeper throws the fishes to them, they will just rush to the food. They communicates by shrill, yelping calls and whistles where I can hear it quite often when the keeper feed them. Maybe they are saying “FOOD ! FOOD ! FOOD!”.

This is Barking Deer. I got no idea why they are name as Barking Deer because I didn’t hear them bark like a dog. They just keep silent.

I wonder the wooden gate can stop this Banteng or Tembadau when it goes mad.

The Grant’s Zebra here does not look like what I imagine seem they look dirty just like the elephant.

Ankole Cattle are an ancient species of cattle from Africa. They have magnificent horns that can span as much as 1.8m. This animal really unusual for me and they are really huge.

The Miniature Horse is another unusual animal for me. They are mini like how it is named and got long hair cover all over the body.

Lok Kawi Wildlife Park

Lok Kawi Wildlife Park is a place where you can found various types of animals. The route to Lok Kawi Wildlife Park is easy because you will find the signboard all along the way which will lead you to the wildlife park when you reach Panampang. The rough estimation of time to get there from Kota KInabalu town will be about 30minutes.

This is the first time I visit Lok Kawi Wildlife although I have heard a lot about it before I pay a visit. The moment I arrive at this wildlife park, I saw a train in from of the main entrance waiting for visitor. There are two type of transport you can use in the wildlife park. First of all is the train service where you will be charge RM2 per person plus entrance fee. The second type of transport is walk on foot where you will only charge for the entrance fee. The entrance fee however consider reasonable. RM10 will be charge for adult who is a Malaysian and RM5 for children. As for foreigner, RM20 will be charge for adult and RM10 for children.

Below is the map of the wildlife park.

The first animal I saw in this wildlife park is this very common animal,rabbit where we can see even in the Sunday Market in Kota Kinabalu Town. However, I think the rabbit here are slightly bigger in size.

This peacock is the only one in this wildlife park. I would like to see it open it pretty tail but it seem that it is too shy to show me. Besides I don’t know whether this is a male or a female peacock because as I know that only male peacock will have pretty feather tail but it seem more like a male to me.

The species of bird in this wildlife park is not as much as I though.

There are two types of parrot here which are the Rainbow Lory and Yellow Crested Cockatoo. It is disappointed that the parrot here are not being train. So they are really “wild” so they don’t speak. No matter how much all how loud you spoke in front of them, they will still remain silent.

The Malay Civet ( Musang Tangalong) is a one of the cute animal I get to see here. I really wanted to have a touch on its fur but don’t know that whether there are dangerous. There are quite a few of Asian Elephant in Lok Kawi Wildlife Park. From the picture, you will noticed that the elephant is quite dirty as you can see their body is cover with mud. For you information, this wildlife park also provide elephant ride which will be charge RM5 per ride. I think the elephant for this service will be much cleaner than the one in the picture.

This is a unknown animal because I can’t find any description or even its name in the wildlife park. It looks like a two horn unicorn for me.

This Ostrich is really big. In Kota Kinabalu, there is also an Ostrich garden where you can get a free ride on the ostrich. Beside, you can also eat an ostrich’s egg.

Tanjung Aru Beach

Tanjung Aru Beach is one of the place you can visit in Kota Kinabalu. There is Tanjung Aru Resort which is another luxury resort but in this post I’m going to show the public beach in Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu. This beach is only about 5 minute from Kota Kinabalu International Airport Terminal 2(KKIA Terminal 2). It is public beaches where you can see a lot of people enjoy their weekend here.

Do you notice an airplane is preparing to landing in the picture? The Kota Kinabalu International Airport is located at the seaside.

This is the lounge in Tanjung Aru. During night time, you can find quite a number of people having drinks and chit chatting here. It is located beside the beach. Besides, you can also enjoy the song sung by the workers here.

This Beach BBQ only operates during night time. You can have all kind of BBQ sea food here.

The Mediterranean Bar & Restaurant is located beside the lounge.

At the very end of the beach, you can find different type of food compared to the front part of the beach. Here, there are many hawker stall where you can eat local food like nasi Lemak, fried Kueh tiaw, fried noodles and many more. Besides, fresh fruits and junk food are also sell here.

Freescale Smart Car Malaysia 2008

Freescale Smart Car Competition is held in Dewan Sirim where it is somewhere near UITM in Shah Alam. There are all together 28 teams from 11 university in Malaysia took part in this competition. During the first day of the competition, we were given a chance to do a trial run on the “real track”. The “real track” I mean here was not really the real track they going to use on the competition but a small track that build with the same material as the real one. All the participants do not know how the real track is before the competition because the track is confidential. Below is the video Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) teams’ trial run.

You can notice that everything going well during the trial run on the small ‘8’ track.

The second day, 13 December 2008 is the day of the competition. Every team had done their full preparation for their smart car and all the cars were being place in the pit. The real track is very challenging.

The person in charge is trying to block the sun light that shine through the window into the track. This is very important because the bright light will influence the performance of the sensor or the camera use by the smart car.

Freescale Smart Car Competition 2008

Freescale Smart Car Competition 2008. This is what I have been doing after finish my final exam during this semester. Well, just come back from Kuala Lumpur yesterday and now can start to blog again. This is the first time this Smart Car Competition being organizes in Malaysia and hence we are all new here. One good news is that we Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) got the champion for this competition. Congratulation again to my course mate Justin Yap and also Wong Cheok Liang. They really spend a lot of time and effort for this competition so they deserve to be Champion.

Well, what is this Smart Car Competition about? Freescale provide us the model of the car, dc motor, battery charger, battery, Microcontroller, and also a programmer. Then you have to use what you got and add in what you wanted to add in to make the car run on the track in the competition. The winner will be the car that finishes a lap with the fastest time. Sounds easy but the process is not as easy as you thought. Below are the product of UMS team and one of the video of our test run in ums lab during the night before we packed up.

That is the track we build ourselves for testing. Due to insufficient of funding, this is the best we can do. However, everything going well on this track.

Gunter's Gasthaus at Kota Kinabalu

Gunter’s Gasthaus is a Germany’s food restaurant in Kota Kinabalu Sabah. Well, I never try or even see a germany’s food but from the name of the restaurant, Gunter’s Gasthaus mean Gunter’s Inn in German. Gunter’s Gasthaus is a home style restaurant. It is decorated with lots of flowers and leaf.Some of those is real but some are fake plants. I feel that the environment of this restaurant is good and relaxing. It is located along Jalan Tuaran.

You will see this huge signboard at the road side. So don’t worry that you can’t find it.

So what is the special thing about this restaurant? At Gunter’s Gasthaus, there is a pakage that you only need to pay for the most expensive dish but limited to 3 dishes per person. Below are some of the dishes I have tried.

The vegetable salad is free. You can take as much as you like while waiting for the dishes you order.

Among all those 6 dishes, the grill chicken and the Serbian Style Sausage are the most expensive dishes which cause RM20.00 each. So the total for this meal is RM40.00 excluded government tax and service charge for two person. My opinion is that the food worth the price and you should give it a try when you visit Kota Kinabalu.

Sea Turtle In UMS

Seem that in my previous post, I have fail to show my readers the sea turtle in Universiti Malaysia Sabah’s Aquarium (UMS). I have walk to the back of the aquarium and take some close shot on the sea turtle. Here is the back of the aquarium.

There are few sea turtles being raise here. Personally I think this is just a temporally place for them because it is impossible to raise sea turtle in such a small area.

In Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), there is a hatchery. A hatchery is a facility where eggs are hatched under artificial conditions, especially those of fish or poultry. Well, no student or visitor is allowed to enter the hatchery so I can only take pictures of it far away. Wonder what sea creatures are being hatch inside.

Coral in Aquarium and Marine Museum

Universiti Malaysia Sabah Aquarium and Marine Museum also have various type of coral. Corals are marine organisms that exist as small sea anemone. Typically they are in colonies of many identical individuals. The group includes the important reef builders that are found in tropical oceans, which secrete calcium carbonate to form a hard skeleton.

Below are the pictures of coral that I have taken. They are really beautiful and attractive. There are many tourist came to Sabah to dive or just snookering to see all this living things. If you don’t have to change to dive at Sabah, you still can get the chance to see them here.

There are also a few types of star fish in the aquarium. This is the Linckia Laevigata or also known as Blue Starfish. Sometime it is also call the Comet Sea Star.

Protorester Nodulosus or also known as Chocolate Chip Star. The spike on the star make it got the name of Rhinoceros Sea Star. I didn’t touch it so I don’t know whether it is a hard spike or soft.

This is another type of starfish.

In Sabah, you can get to see a sea urchin almost at every beach or sea side. You can take a look at my Sutera Harbour Resort‘s post where I got take a picture of sea urchin from the jetty. This is the Diadema Sabignyi or known as Black Sea Urchin. The spike of the urchin is poisonous. It is common in shallow water (about 0 to 70 meters) of tropical coral reefs. It can grow to a maximum width of approximately 23cm.

I’m not sure how to call this creature but I think it won’t be wrong to call it sea snail even though it doesn’t have a shell behind. This sea snail really looks cute but lonely because it is the only kind in the aquarium.

Well, these are all the coral in Universiti Malaysia Sabah Aquarium and Marine Museum. Maybe someday in the future, there will have more kind of coral raise here.

Universiti Malasysia Sabah’s aquarium. Although the aquarium in Universiti Malaysia Sabah is not big but there are various type of fish and coral. There are gigantic grouper in the aquarium. I don’t know how much the weight of this grouper but you can estimate it yourself.

I think the picture hardly tell you the size of the fish.

Beside grouper, you can also find Gill in Finding Nemo here. I have taken a few of Gill photos.

You can also find sea horse here. Want to ride on it? Well, the size of this seahorse is just about the size of my hand or even smaller.

I want to show the picture of the sea turtle but unfortunately on the day I visit the aquarium, the sea turtle always stay away from me. So it is quite hard for me to take a good picture of the sea turtle. This is what I manage to take.

Here are the fishes in the small aquarium. There is a gigantic lobster inside the aquarium. Wonder how much it cost for 100g. This lobster is known as Panulirus Penicillatus or Asian Spiny Lobster.

Although you can't find shark in UMS’s Aquarium, but you can find the best friend of shark here. Yes, the Remora or also known as Shark Sucker is the best friend of shark because they always attach to sharks. Remora has an oval-shaped sucking disc to allow them to attach to larger fishes. Remora can grow to 1m in length. It can vary in color. They often present in shallow inshore brackish areas, as well as around coral reefs. They are ground at depths ranging from 20-50 meters. Remora has a widespread distribution in most tropical and some warm temperate marine waters.

This is a strange fish i found in the aquarium. I don't know what is it's name. For me, it look like kissing fish.

Can you see the fish in this picture? It is near the rock. I wonder it is sleeping or just hiding.

Among all those fish, I like the remora fish. They look big to me in the aquarium but when you watch in some education shows such as National Geography, they look so tiny when they are attached to the sharks. Well, here are more or less the fishes in University Malaysia Sabah Aquarium and Marine Museum.

As you all know that my university which is Universiti Malaysia Sabah located just beside the sea. If you don’t know you can take a look at my old post here. So there is no doubt that the view of my University is number one in Malaysia’s university but do you know that there is an aquarium in Universiti Malaysia Sabah?

There is an Aquarium and Museum just beside the Marine’s faculty. Before the SEA WORLD of 1 Borneo open, this is the only aquarium in Sabah. This aquarium does open for public visitor at a very low rate. If I’m not mistaken, it just needs RM5 or RM6 per entry but it is free for UMS student. Before I show you the aquarium, I hope you don’t expect it is as good as the KLCC aquaria. You can see shark or stingray here but there are sea turtle!

Today there are lots of visitor here.

This is the decoration at the entrance. Although there are sharks and stingray hanging there but no real shark and stingray in UMS’s Aquarium.

The picture below shows the entire aquarium. After an hour plus of waiting, finally I’m able to take the photo of the empty aquarium.

Beside the aquarium is the Marine Museum. There are various type of coral reef displayed in the Museum.

There is a skeleton of a Cuvier’s Beaked Whale in the Marine Museum. Cuvier's Beaked Whale has a short. Some of them are dark grey, others a reddish-brown. Cuvier’s Beaked Whale can grow up to about seven meters in length and weighs 2-3 metric tons. They can live up to forty years.

Water Front Kota Kinabalu

I think I’m wrong for my previous post. There is still new post for my blog during this exam month. This is because I’m not the type that can study for whole day inside my room without out any relaxing activity. So to make myself relax, yesterday night I went to water front in Kota Kinabalu.

Every state in Malaysia or every country has their own water front. In Kuching, there are also water front in the city which is beside the river. The different for the water front of Kuching and kota Kinabalu is that the one in Kota Kinabalu is beside the sea.

Besides, the walking path way of the water front in Kota Kinabalu is a lot shorter than the one in Kuching.

The end of it is connected to a dry market, wet market and also fruit market. If you continue walking, you will reach Le Meridien Hotel at the opposite side, Warisan Square, Port View Sea Food Restaurant, Coffe Bean and other shops.

The “SwordFish” is the symbol of Kota Kinabalu which every tourist that visits Kota Kinabalu will take picture with it just like the Cat statue in Kuching.

There are quite a number of this “Fishy Chair” along the path way.

Well, the view in the day time will certainly more beautiful than during the night time. As you can see i can't take the picture of the sea because it is too dark. Besides, my camera works better during day time.

For your information, there is another waterfront which in under construction in Kota Kinabalu. I wonder it is call water front but I just name it “water front II” for the time being. It will be done by next year if no delay. Well, I will show you when it is done.

Well, this month will be a busy month for me. Why am i busy? It is because it is my final exam month. Yesterday just been through my first day of exam. The conclusion for yesterday is “BAD PERFORMANCE”. Still got four subject to go and will be finish my final on 17 November. So recently I don’t think I will post any post. Maybe some boring post to express my feelings and my emotion after taking the exam. Even after my final, there are other things I have to busy with. Can’t tell you what it is now but you will know after that (maybe) if you follow my blog. Good luck for all whom having their exam now and very good luck to myself.

How good if my examination only need me to write abc or 123..

BIG BOYZ TOYS @ 1 Borneo

Beside the Musical Firework Display I have posted on my previous post, there are also a car exhibition. This exhibition is from “BIG BOYZ TOYS”. “BIG BOYZ TOYS”, when we are kid, we use to play with all of those sport cars’s model. Now when we grown up, we no longer playing with those little model but drive a real car, but of course you need to afford to get one for yourself. Show all the cars in the exhibition are toys for grown up boys.

The main character for this car show will be this Ferrari. There are 4 pretty models stand beside the Ferrari for visitors to take photo. Anyway, as I had mention the main character is the Ferrari, so don’t get distracted ok?

As for two of these cars, I don’t know who the manufacturer is as I’m not so familiar with cars, so anyone who know please kindly leave your comment. Thanks.

Musical Firework Display At 1 Borneo Kota Kinabalu

Yesterday,I went to watch a Musical Firework Display. This firework show was held at 1 Borneo Kota Kinabalu Sabah and graced by TYT Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Ahmadshah bin Abdullah. It is also the first time ever Musical Firework Display in Sabah.

The firework show start at 8.30p.m. but I went there few hours earlier. So I walked around 1 Borneo and took some pictures. Currently Sabah Inernational Expo, SIE 2008 is held in 1 Borneo. The picture below are partly of the SIE 2008.

This part of SIE are displaying all the housing project. All the house or condominium show here is luxury and high class.

Let me take this opportunity to show you the model of 1 Borneo Hyper mall. Later, I’m going to watch the firework show at the place where the red arrow pointed to.

There are red carpets at most of the main route. This was preparing for the arriver of TYT.

Well,10 minutes before 8.30p.m. I already went to the outside part of 1 Borneo to wait for the firework shows. I saw this Helicopter of 1 Borneo. I think this is the one that prepared for visitor to 1 Borneo that wanted to avoid traffic jam. I do mention this on my previous post of 1 Borneo but during that time I don’t have the picture of the helicopter.

As usual, the event did not start at 8.30p.m. because our dearest TYT was not here yet. So everybody is waiting for TYT while waiting for the firework show. I have taken some pictures of the front part of 1 Borneo.

There were lots of people here waiting for the Musical firework display.

The Novotel Hotel and The Mercure Hotel. The Tune hotel and The Best Courtyard Hotel is just on the right of The Mercure Hotel.

The main entrance to 1 Borneo Hyper mall is between the Novotel and the Mercure Hotel.

The traffic that night is perfectly under control. No traffic jam. There are also lots of people standing at the opposite road waiting for the firework show.

When TYT arrive, I quickly look for a strategic place for the firework show and here it begin…

The conclusion is that the place I took my shoot is not a strategic place. I should just go to the opposite road so that I can take down the whole firework show. Anyway, hope you enjoy the picture and video I took with my Kodak CX6330 which is a new camera model about 4 years ago.

When I thought that the Musical firework show come to an end, suddenly there were still some firework fired from the top of Mercure Hotel. I only manage to take one shot of it due to the slow loading of my camera.

A Musical Firework Display. Honestly say that I can see that the firework is following the rhythm of the music. Well, this might because I got no talent in music stuff. That’s why I just enjoy the firework just like during the eve of Chinese New Year.

This is a picture taken during my lecture class. You can see that this is the white board which My University used. How can you aspect the student study well with this quality of facility? This picture took at the most front row in the tutorial room. So you can imagine how the student at the back going to read the notes on the white board. The white board that never white or cannot be clean is the main problem we are suffering. Wonder where the money of my university gone or they are not doing their job!
Now lets us look at the words on the board? Can you read it or do you face any difficulty to read it? Well, this is the writing of our lovely tutor. Although we also feel difficulty in reading her words but we never blame her because the way she write is not her fault. She is a foreigner from somewhere near France.

Chronoswiss Watch That Attractted Me

Will you buy this watch? Yesterday when I pass by this shop, I’m attracted by this Chronoswiss’s watch. Chronoswiss is a brand found in Munich, Germany. From the outlook and brand, I knew that this watch is costly but never think that the price will as high as this.

This price is really over my imagination. This is already around the cost of two VIVA. What will be the weight when you are wearing this watch on your hand?

City Mall Shopping Complex

Before 1 Borneo is open, the newest shopping complex in Kota Kinabalu will be City Mall. If I’m not mistaken, this shopping complex is open at 2007 which is a year earlier than THE Spring in Kuching Sarawak.

This shopping complex is divided into the outdoor shop and also the indoor shop. Most of the food and drink shop is at the outdoor site.

Besides, you can also find Starbucks Coffee, Big Apple Donuts & Coffee and also White Coffee here.

The escalator connected the car park and the shopping mall just like The Spring.

The ground floor of City Mall. You may found that the area is not so big because half of the area is occupy by Giant Hypermarket. This shopping mall is divided into three sections which is the North City Walk, The South City Walk and the Central.

The Halo Café is located outside the 1st floor. This café only open at night where you can listen to the song sung by their singer while enjoying their food and drinks.

Sushi King is also located outside the 1st floor.

This is the 2nd floor of City Mall. The 2nd floor is only half the size of the 1st floor.

If you don’t want to take the escalator, you can use this round stone stairs.

Basically this is all the shop in City Mall. If you got a chance to come here, you might explore more than what you read from here.

Menara Tun Mustapha (Yayasan Sabah)

Menara Tun Mustapha (Yayasan Sabah) is the foundation building in Sabah. This is a place where all the tourist will come when they visit Sabah. Inside Menara Tun Mustapha, there’s a restaurant call Atmosphere where the restaurant will rotate so that all thier customer can enjoy the view of Kota Kinabalu while having their meal.

In this post, I’m not going to bring my reader to that restaurant but only walk around this place.

Why I come here today? This is because I wanted to fly my new bought kite here.Yes, you can see my kite is in the sky now.

This is the behind of Menara Tun Mustapha. Enjoy the view.

Kota Kinabalu town is at the opposite of this tower.

Besides flying kite, I also enjoyed the sun set here.

It is relaxing to come here and have a walk sometime when in stress. Some of my friends like to come here for fishing.

Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House At Istana Kota Kinabalu Sabah

After visited the Likas Sport Complex, I went to the ISTANA where the Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sabah Tun Satuk Seri Panglima Ahmadshah Bin Abdullah stay. The Istana is located in the city of Kota Kinabalu but it is build on top of a hill.

This is the entrance of the Istana and we are not allowed to drive into it. So have to park our car outside and walk on foot.

The main gate of the Istana. Still a long way to go. The Istana is at the top of this hill. I wonder how much petrol being consume a day when our Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sabah and his family went in and out his Istana.

Finally we arrive. Well, the Istana is not as big as I imagine. The design of the Istana is also not so luxury. Bad news is that we are not allowed to go into the Istana. The Hari Raya Open house is held and the back of the Istana.

So we need to take this route to the back of the Istana.

Very Obvious, the food here is provided by the Promenade Hotel and also Bravely Hotel seem thier vehicle was here. Both of these hotels are rated 4-star in Kota Kinabalu.

Another bad news when I arrived in Istana is that they were packing up. Mean no more food for us.

Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House In Likas Sport Complex Kota Kinabalu Sabah

Selamat Hari Raya to all my readers.Yesterday is the 1st day of Hari Raya,I have been to two places for free delicious food.There are the The Likas Sport Complex and Istana Kota Kinabalu Sabah.For this post,I’ll only post briefly about my visit to Likas Sport Complex Kota Kinabalu Sabah.

This is the Likas Sport Complex Kota Kinabalu Sabah where it is build for Sukma (forgot which year).

The Hari RayaAidilfitri Open House by the Ketua Menteri Sabah, Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman and Menteri-menteri Kabinet Negeri Sabah is held here.

You can see that Ketua Menteri Sabah is busying shaking hand and kirim salam with all the visitor.

Inside the sport complex, it is crowded with people.The food here is mainly provided by most of the hotel and restaurant in Kota Kinabalu.

Due to the long queue for food, I had decided to go to the stall outside 1st.The stall outside got less people compare to the indoor stall.

Free mineral water and drinks… Free delicious food..The Satay really tasty with the Kuah Kacang

Then I spotted this….

Veda Blu ice cream car. This means that Veda Blu is here providing free ice-cream. Without a moment waste, I went to search for the stall.

Although I found it easily but the stall is packed with people. So in the end, I didn’t join the queue.

The indoor stall is still pack with people.This is a stall from Le MERIDIEN where it is a 5 star hotel in Kota Kinabalu. The foods here look nice and many people queue for it. After all, not every day you can eat the food cooked by 5-star hotel cook.

This is the stall from Lembah Impian Country Homes Resort.This is the menu of their free buffet.The queue here is long to so I can’t manage to take the picture of the food.

Next is the stall from Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa. This is another luxury resort beside Sutera Harbour Resort I had posted.

The stall next to Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa is Seri Melati. Well, I’m not sure about the background of this stall.

Then I come to the swimming pool side where there are also some food stalls here. The people here is less compare to the indoor too.

Here, again I had spotted Veda Blu and this time the queue is shorter. So I joined the queue and took two ice-creams. One is peach if I not mistaken and the other is Avogadro flavor.

This zone is special prepare for golden citizen and also for handicap. This really show that we are celebrating Hari Raya together.

As a conclusion, all the food here are almost similar but it is from different cook. So more or less the taste will be different too. I did not manage to taste all of it due to the long queue.After visited the Likas Sport Complex, I went to visit the ISTANA. This will be my coming post!

SMM Grand National Dota Tournament 2008

SMM Grand National Dota Tournament 2008 in Sabah had just passed last week. Recently my post always out of date due to the bad connection and also I’m busy with my course work. Anyway for those who know nothing about this tournament, you can still read some of it here.

This tournament is held all over Malaysia and open for all Malaysian’s Dota lover. The winner from each state will represent their state to compete with the winner from other state. For those who don’t know what is Dota, it’s really hard for me to explain but I can tell you that this is a simple computer game which can bring you lots of fun. The poster above showing some detail for the tournament. So you can enlarge it if you are interested.

The Tournament in Sabah is held in Cyber X which is a cyber café located in Damai, Kota Kinabalu.Below are some of the picture I took.

The cyber café is crowded with competitor and also supporter. Everyone is trying their best to win the game.

This is the first time I when to see Dota Tournament outside my University. I didn’t take part in it but just go to be supporter for my University Team call “I’m not Clan” .This team is our University Champion and they are going for this Tournament.

He is the manager of “I’m not Clan” and also my lovely course mate.

Here are the players in “I’m not Clan”. This picture is taken during their 1st match. They won this match easily. Well, “I’m not Clan” manage to go until semi final. The winner for this Tournament is a Team from Tawau “VZP” which got a very good skill and team work. Congratulation to them. As for my University team, they really did a good job.

After watching their first match, I went to walk around Cyber X and took some of this picture.

Cyber X is really big, the part I show in the above picture is for the tournament. The part showing in the picture below is for public gamer. The environment here is very comfortable.

The Tournament is really excited and every team got a very good skill. After watching some match, I found that there are still lots of strategy can be used which I never thought of. Learn lots from this tournament about Dota.

Western Cuisine

J J western Cuisine is one of my favorite western food’s stall in Kota Kinabalu. It is located in Damai somewhere near the food court. Although it is not a high class restaurant with a very good environment but it is still my favorite. This is because the food here is delicious and the price is reasonable. The quantity given also satisfies me.

From the picture you can see that the quantity is not less and it is very tasty too.
This is the western food stall I use to visit when I’m in Kota Kinabalu.So when I go back to Kuching, which stall I used to visit? Salut@ Seafood Restaurant (Kota Kinabalu Sabah)

Last week I went to one of the sea food restaurant in Kota Kinabalu name Salut Seafood Restaurant. This restaurant is not located in the town of Kota Kinabalu but about 40 minutes car drive from the airport.This is the second time I came here to take a seafood dinner since I’m in Sabah for 2 years. If you are interested to see the post of our 1st time visit to salut,click here.This is my coursemate blog.This restaurant of course is not the high class restaurant like what you can get in town but many tourists came here to have their seafood dinner. It is building beside a lake.

Below is some picture I took in Salut.

Look at this enormous sea shell. Look at the size of the shell that compare with my hand. You can even put your head inside. This is real shell and it’s very heavy. The shell is put at somewhere near the entrance so everybody can see it before the go into the restaurant.

Three boss here are looking at the price table to order food.

Most of the seafood that we order here are alive before they cooked it. This is the place they display their seafood.

The prawn is still alive. They just catch up and weight it when you order. FRESH!

Then what I want to show next? Yes, it is the photo when we finish our dinner. Sorry for not showing all the food we had order. This is because the moment they send to our table, the food is too attractive till I forgot to take photo first. The moment I start to eat, my hand is oily and can’t get my camera anymore. So all I got here is the picture we finish our dinner. haha!

Now lets see the bill.

RM340.68!!!! Yes, I’m shock too when I see the price because from what I know it that the price of this restaurant is reasonable. So what’s going on?

Take look at this..FRESH JUICE=RM112.00… Oh My God..We only order four fresh Avogadro JUICEs then it cost us RM28 each. This is really terrible. After we ask at the counter, the boss here told us that the AVOGADRO we had drink is BRANDED one.
Below is the size of the cup of the Avogadro Juice. You have to admit that it is really a big cup but it is still expensive.

Well, how branded can an Avogadro be that cost until RM28 each? I got no idea with that.

So the lesson here is that ask the price before order!!!Anyway the food here is still consider cheap or reasonable if we minus out the cost for drinks.

Sutera Harbour Resort (Kota Kinabalu Sabah)

Sutera Harbour Resort is located in the heart of Kota Kinabalu which is the capital of Sabah. It is about 10munutes away from the Kota Kinabalu International Airport. The resort is rate with 5 stars. Basically this resort got two hotels which are city-style The Pacific Sutera and resort-style The Magellan Sutera. Besides, there is also Sutera Harbour Marina, the Sutera Harbour Golf Course. Tourist can visit the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park directly from Sutera Harbour where boats are provided. Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park is the 5 beautiful islands at Sabah which are Manukan Island, Sapi Island, Mamutik Island, Gaya Island and Sulug Island. Other facilities in Sutera Harbour are the 27-hole golf course and two Mandara Spas.

Well, few week ago I had a chance to not only step in this 5-stars resort but stayed here for 2days one night. The hotel I stayed is The Pacific Sutera. This is really an enjoyable trip. So let me take you around the resort.

Take a look at this, is this a wardrobe? Or what is the purpose of this window?

This window is attached between the room and the bath room, when you open it, you can enjoy the view outside the room while enjoying bubble bath.

The view outside the hotel room (The Pacific Sutera) which I stayed. Unluckily the room I stayed was not high enough, if not I think I can get more nice view.

This is the 27-hole golf course. Strong wind blowing but they still enjoy their game.

If you like the ocean, this seat certainly will be your choice. Imagine how relaxing to enjoy the sunrise and the sun fall.

Due to Hari Kemerdekaan Malaysia, you can see the flag of Malaysia and Sabah waving along the path way. NICE.

Each hotel has their own swimming pool and this is the swimming pool of The Pacific Sutera Hotel. The round round land located in the middle of the pool is known as the island in the pool.

I found that our government also knows how to enjoy their life. Even a high tea can be held in this 5-stars hotel.

Mitsuoka (Nouera, Galue III, Le-Seyde, Classic Type F)

This Classic Type F really attract me lots because of the design and the size. Its small compare to the size of a normal car and cute. I wonder how it will be to drive a car of this size on the road.

After looking at them, which one you prefer to own if you are affordable to have one? Or do you prefer a classical car or a modern sports car? As for me, I prefer classical car more than a sport car.
